The girls and I enjoyed having lunch at The Dobbin House in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. We ate in the dungeon (basement restaurant) and at first the girls were afraid of the dark atmosphere but when they saw the candlelight on the table, their attitudes changed. I think they were intrigued with the fire, candles and fire are not allowed in our homes seeing that I almost burnt down our home many years ago trying to blow out a candle causing the wax to splatter on the wall and start a fire. Not a cool story seeing that we were in military housing at the time. Moving on with my story, the girls were very excited to be here and asked many questions. It was nice to go back in time – the girls don’t realize the significance, but as they grow older and we return, they will learn of the history of Gettysburg. To them, having a “grown up glass” was the best thing. No cover on it and they could easily access the ice cubes – thank goodness – no spills this time.
