This is my granddaughter, Sophia. She has just completed her first season of soccer shots – a first milestone in being a team member and learning about how to work with others to accomplish a goal. I am so proud of her because I could tell by tonight – her last session – how much she has grown in the skill of kicking and running and being competitive to make a goal. She has a long road ahead to become proficient, but I know she can do it. She was so proud of her necklace and wore it proudly. Our time at the soccer field must come to an end until next fall season. At that time, we will have two granddaughters learning the skill. Olivia will be joining her sister in playing soccer but not in the same session.
I remember going and watching my two daughters’ practice and play. Now, my daughter, Amy, gets to be in my shoes and watch her daughters perfect the skill – who knows maybe they will be soccer stars one day. Good sportsmanship and teamwork is the most important lesson to learn.
